A. DESCRIPTION Course Number: 9001110 Credit: 1.0
B. ORGANIZATION This is a hands-on course in which topics are presented by the instructor while the student emulates the procedure. Once Web design functions are explained for each lesson, students will be assigned projects to be completed during class periods. Objective and application tests are normally given after each lesson and are distributed using an on-line testing center and there is a comprehensive/application final exam.
C. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. To introduce students to the site planning, site structure, page layout, presentation, printing, images, content, fonts, and to the accessibility issues in the industry. 2. To expose students to proper Web site design and management techniques. 3. To introduce students to the difference between good vs. not-so-good Web design. 4. To acquaint students with the proper procedures to create Web sites suitable for coursework, professional purposes, and personal use. 5. To introduce students to quality Web production requirements. 6. To provide students with opportunities to develop basic Web design skills in respect to site layout, site organization, and site management. 7. Acquire the skills necessary to take CIW Site Development Associate (SDA)Exam.
E. REQUIRED TEXT(S): Software: Adobe Creative Suite 6 (in class use) Handouts: Additional handouts will be provided during the course.
F. GRADING PROCEDURES: Students will be graded on a total points scale and by academic proficiency.
G. GRADING SCALE:
- A 90 – 100
- B 80 – 89
- C 70 – 79
- D 60 – 69
- F 0 – 59
H. END OF COURSE EXAM: The end of course exam will be a comprehensive and application in which you will create a Web site as well as answer a set of multiple choice questions. You will be given the allotted time for your individual period. This is designated by the school administration.
